The 49ers on Saturday made the returns of cornerback Richard Sherman, and running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. official when they placed them back on the active roster from Injured Reserve.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday said the club would put all three players on the roster. Mostert, Wilson and Sherman will all be considered ‘questionable’ to play vs. the Rams.
San Francisco’s offensive and defensive backfields have been hit hard by injuries this season.
Mostert has missed six games, but remains the club’s leading rusher with 303 yards. Wilson has been out for the last three games after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 7 vs. the Patriots. He had the best game of his career in New England when he racked up 112 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries before getting hurt.
Sherman hurt his calf in Week 1 and hasn’t been back since. The team did open his practice window before Week 10 though, so he’s had multiple weeks to test out his lower calf injury which needed a variety of treatments to heal properly. He figures to slot in as the starter on the opposite side of Jason Verrett or Emmanuel Moseley.
