Overview:
Beginning his prep career in the Peach State with the Brunswick Pirates, Ellis committed to Florida during a campus visit on April 13, 2019, when he was still in his freshman year.
The lone member of the Gators’ 2022 class until five-star athlete Sam McCall joined him on October 28, he transferred to the Miami Edison Red Raiders ahead of his sophomore year, who hosted the Chaminade-Madonna Lions in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Region 4-3A Finals on November 27.
As is commonplace with prospects who pledge this early, Ellis has continued to hear from other programs and he released a top-six list on July 16, which included, in addition to Florida, the Arkansas Razorbacks, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks, South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee Volunteers.
The 6-foot-5-inch, 200-pound pass-catcher attended multiple Gators games in 2019, and was only able to visit one other school on his list, Miami, before the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) instituted their recruiting dead period because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in March.
While a lot can happen between now and Ellis inking his National Letter of Intent (LOI), his combination of size and speed makes him an intriguing candidate on the perimeter in two years.
Florida has placed an emphasis on the wide receiver position in the 2021 cycle, currently possessing the commitment of four student-athletes, all of whom are four-stars, Jacksonville’s Marcus Burke, Seffner’s Charles Montgomery, Loganville, Georgia’s Daejon Reynolds and Ocala’s Trevonte Rucker.
