2020’s Black Friday has helped bring an unexpected barrage of NBA news, most notably a preseason schedule released by the league only two weeks before it’s set to start. The National Basketball Association released an 8-day preseason schedule with games scheduled to start on Dec. 11, only 14 days from today and 11 days before the NBA season is set to start on Dec. 22.
The start of the NBA’s preseason will feature the NBA’s defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, who will be facing off against their crosstown rival Los Angeles Clippers, who are once again seen as a potential foil to the Lakers success in the coming season. In addition to Dec. 11, the Lakers face the Clippers again on Dec. 13 followed by Dec. 16 and Dec. 18 games against the Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers will be starting next season only 71 days after having won the championship in the Orlando bubble and will be doing so without many key members of last year’s title-winning team.
