When most people look at Tacko Fall, they don’t think “savvy businessman,” but they probably ought to.
It’s easy to get caught up in his height at 7-foot-5, extraordinarily tall even among his vertically-gifted peers in the NBA, and easier still to get distracted by his also-extraordinarily gregarious personality.
But the man is sharp when it comes to side hustle.
Fall, along with Breanna Stewart and Mo Bamba, is one of three founding athletes involved with PWR FWD, a small company based in New Hampshire that helps athletes market products based on their fame in sport without a middle man.

Founded by UMass basketball alum Luke Bonner, the company has “facilitated direct relationships with partners on the manufacturing and supply side,” according to the former Minuteman via Sportico’s Michael McCann.
“This allows us to create most of the products in athletes’ stores on-demand,” added Bonner, younger brother of longtime NBA player Matt Bonner. “The split with the athlete occurs after the cost of the good.”
“I thought it would be smart if someone built a platform to make it easy for athletes to have their own ecommerce storefronts,” he explained. “The key to this whole concept is scale … The economics don’t work as a services business; if we want to succeed, we need to help as many athletes as possible.”
“That’s how we settled on building a marketplace,” added Bonner.

For a player with the viral popularity of Fall, it’s an ideal partnership — one already employed to sell his limited-edition Andiamo Bluetooth speaker the Celtics Wire covered earlier this year.
That product can be bought directly through PWR FWD.
“It’s not like a Nike athlete is selling a Reebok shirt,” suggested Bonner. “Tacko is selling a Tacko shirt.”
Did we mention the Senegalese center is one savvy businessman?
