Safety depth again could be an issue for Cardinals in Week 12

It appears they only have two healthy safeties on the roster.

The Arizona Cardinals had one of their worst games of the season against he Carolina Panthers when they didn’t have three of their top safeties. Budda Baker, Chris Banjo and Jalen Thompson were all out.

They again have depth issues but, as they prepare to play the New England Patriots, they still have Baker and Banjo.

On Sunday, Jalen Thompson suffered a reaggravation of the ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 and caused him to miss nearly half the season. It is unknown whether he will be able to play this week, but it didn’t look like it on Sunday.

Deionte Thompson has landed on the COVID list. Charles Washington did not play last week with a groin injury and was not seen at the open part of practice on Tuesday.

That would leave only Baker and Banjo as the two healthy safeties on the roster.

They do not have a safety on the practice squad, either, although Jace Whittaker can play there.

Hopefully, either Washington or Jalen Thompson have recovered enough to be able to play and then, more importantly, that neither Baker nor Banjo get hurt.
