Former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones has had quite an impact on the NFL since being drafted No. 6 overall by the Atlanta Falcons in 2011.

Jones is often considered the best receiver in the NFL, though, there are a few other names that are in the conversation. Recently, Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints has had his name thrown into the hat.

The Falcons – Saints NFL South rivalry is one of the best in the NFL, and Jones was quick to agree.

As reported by Kelsey Conway of AtlantaFalcons.com, Jones feels the intensity and understands the weight of the contest when the two teams from the south face off.

“With the Saints and Falcons, it’s a rivalry game,” Jones said. “Blood is boiling, it’s chippy at times, things like that. That’s what you’re going to get in this game. I’m looking forward to playing in it.”

Jones in 7-12 against the Saints, a record that could end up with a smaller differential by the end of the 2020 season.

A brief comparison was made to the Alabama – Auburn ‘Iron Bowl’ rivalry, in which Jones was a part of during his college days with the Crismon Tide.

“Alabama vs. Auburn is crazy, but this is a good rivalry,” Jones said. “This is a big game, it’s up there, don’t get me wrong. Especially down there when they’re able to have fans in that building, it’s definitely a difficult place to play at. I love playing New Orleans.”
