AFC West report after Week 11: Raiders suffer first divisional loss

Back in Week 5, the Raiders were the only AFC West team to win. That was the week they ripped the division-leading Chiefs, handing them their only loss of the season. This week they would face the Chiefs again, but this time they would fall just short and as it happens would be the only team in the division not to win.

The Broncos, coming off a five-turnover game loss against the Raiders last week, beat a tough Dolphins team in part by sacking starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa six times and forcing two turnovers.

The Chargers were facing the winless Jets at home to get their third win of the season. In the process, rookie quarterback Justin Herbert kept setting records. He threw three touchdowns in the game, becoming the first rookie quarterback to accomplish that feat five times. It gave him 22 passing touchdowns in the season, which is tied for sixth-most for a rookie in NFL history. And there are still six games left.

Even though the Raiders were the only team to lose in this division this week, they gave the Chiefs all they could handle and held the lead with under two minutes left in the game. It was a last gasp touchdown drive by the Chiefs that let them escape with the win.

It was also the Raiders’ first loss in the division.
