Following the Iowa State Cyclones win over the Kansas State Wildcats, ISU head coach Matt Campbell addressed the media in his post-game conference. One of the questions asked was regarding preparing for the Texas Longhorns on a short week. Iowa State will travel to Austin for an 11:00 am kickoff on Friday.

“I think this is going to be one of the great challenges that I’ve had and we’ve had as a program since we’ve been here,” Campbell stated as he responded to a question about the short week. “This is going to be really hard and yet I feel like that’s what you want this time of year. Hard, tough challenges that are defining of who you are and who you’ve become.”
“So we’re going to have to do a great job as a coaching staff. We’re going to have to do a great job as players. We’re going to have to do a great job in our athletic training room. We’re going to have to do a great job in our strength and conditioning. The next six days are going to challenge just about everything that we are about and see how we respond to it. Great challenges in front of us for sure.”
The Cyclones are currently first in the Big 12 standings with a 6-1 conference record. A win against the Longhorns and Iowa State can punch their ticket to Arlington, Texas, and the opportunity to win their first Big 12 Championship in their history. This will be their second matchup of the season featuring two top 25 teams. They faced the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys on Oct. 24, they lost 24-21 in Stillwater.
