With the 34th pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected 6-foot-5 point guard Theo Maledon.
The pick will be traded to the Thunder as a part of the draft-day trade that saw the sides agree to a deal; Danny Green and Terrance Ferguson will head to Philadelphia in exchange for Al Horford, the rights to Aleksej Pokusevski — who was selected with the 17th overall pick of the draft — and the Sixers’ lightly protected first-round pick in the 2025 draft.
Maledon, who hails from France, is said to have grown up idolizing Tony Parker. According to his prospect profile on NBA.com, Maledon is considered one of the top international prospects in this year’s draft class. He began his professional career at the age of 16 so, in theory, should arrive to the NBA with a fair amount of seasoning. He stands at 6-foot-5, which gives him NBA size.
He joins Pokusevski as a highly-touted international prospect who the rebuilding Thunder will look to bring into the fold.
