The Tennessee Titans are moving in the wrong direction in the post-Week 10 power rankings of USA TODAY’s Nate Davis after their “Thursday Night Football” loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
After suffering the 34-17 defeat at the hands of their division rivals and falling to second place in the AFC South, the Titans now sit at No. 11 in Davis’ latest rankings after owning the No. 5 spot last week.
Here’s what he had to say about Tennessee:
11. Titans (5): Mike Vrabel is one of the craftiest coaches in the league. But he definitely goofed by turning away from veteran P Ryan Allen last week.
No argument with Davis’ assessment there. Head coach Mike Vrabel’s move to switch punters will go down as one of his worst decisions since taking over the gig in Nashville.
One week after punter Ryan Allen filled in for Brett Kern with a sensational performance (50.5 yards per punt), the Titans decided to try and fix what wasn’t broken and insert Trevor Daniel in for Week 10.
And it proved disastrous. Daniel shanked one punt that led to a Colts score, and then had another blocked that Indy returned for a touchdown.
Here’s a look at the 10 teams in front of the Titans in Davis’ rankings:
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Kansas City Chiefs
- New Orleans Saints
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Green Bay Packers
- Baltimore Ravens
- Miami Dolphins
- Arizona Cardinals
- Los Angeles Rams
- Indianapolis Colts
If the Titans want to get back on track in Week 11 after losing three of their last four games, they’ll have to do so in a very tough spot.
Tennessee must travel to M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday to take on a Baltimore Ravens team that is no doubt hungry to get revenge on the Titans, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
