After two weeks off, the defending national champion LSU Tigers (2-3) return to action this week with a trip to Fayetteville, Ar., to face the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-4).

This series dates all the way back to 1901, which LSU won 15-0. The Tigers lead the all-time series 41-22-2 and have won the past four meetings.

This series is known as the Battle for the Golden Boot, with the winner receiving a trophy of a Golden Boot. The rivalry, which had been dormant for many years while Arkansas played in the old Southwest Conference, was renewed in the 90s when the Razorbacks joined the SEC.

LSU, ranked No. 1 when the two schools met in 2019, defeated the Razorbacks 56-20 to improve to 11-0.

Eventual Heisman winner, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, completed 23 of 28 passes for 327 yards in the win.

The win over Arkansas was the breakout game for running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who rushed for a career-high 188 yards on just six attempts, and three touchdowns.

Edwards-Helaire also chipped in with 65 receiving yards.

All-American wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase caught six passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns for LSU.

Arkansas’ last win over the Tigers was in 2015 when the Razorbacks downed LSU 31-14.

It marked the second consecutive win for Arkansas over LSU, which defeated the Tigers 17-0 the year before in one of the more embarrassing offensive performances in recent school history.
