William Dean, the attorney representing three of the four men who were allegedly robbed by former Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker at gunpoint in Florida earlier this year, has been arrested on extortion charges.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports that investigators took Dean into custody for attempting to extort Baker to the tune of $800,000 in exchange for legal cooperation including, but not limited to, softening their allegations.
Following Dean’s arrest, the Broward State Attorney’s Office announced that it is dropping all charges against Baker.
Baker was the Giants’ second first-round pick in 2019, selected 30th overall out of Georgia. He started 15 of 16 games last year, recording 61 tackles, 8 passes defended, and 2 tackles for loss.
The 23-year-old was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list on July 27 and was waived by New York on September 8
