Jaguars WR Keelan Cole makes NFL history — twice — against the Packers

Jaguars receiver Keelan Cole has had a historic day against a historic franchise.

When the 6-2 Packers took on the 1-7 Jaguars on Sunday at Lambeau Field, few took the matchup seriously. Jacksonville came into the game with the NFL’s worst defense, per Football Outsiders, and that’s not good against Aaron Rodgers. It was even worse for Jacksonville when back judge Dino Paganelli assisted Green Bay’s efforts on Rodgers’ 78-yard touchdown pass to receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling early in the second quarter.

But the Jags were undaunted — rookie quarterback Jake Luton, making his second NFL start, started throwing the ball around nicely, and receiver Keenan Cole has had himself a day.

First, there was this 91-yard punt return in the second quarter in which Cole just abused Green Bay punter JK Scott…

…and then, there was this great throw from Luton, which Cole turned into a 12-yard touchdown.

Per NFL Research, Cole made history for both teams in this game — good history for his own, and bad history for the Packers, who have existed as a franchise since 1921,

Not bad for a guy who had just three touchdowns on the season coming into this game.
