The 2020 NBA draft continues to inch closer and close; it is only five days away. The time to get down to the nitty-gritty is now as teams put on the final touches on their draft preparation.
For the Philadelphia 76ers, they enter this draft with a first-round pick in their possession at No. 21 after the pick was conveyed from the Oklahoma City Thunder. That will give new president Daryl Morey some options on draft night as he can either trade the pick in order to improve the roster or even move up in the draft.
At the moment, they are at No. 21, and they have obvious needs. They need some shooting and some ball-handlers who can help create offense on the floor. A guy who fits the mold of the second need is French point guard Theo Maledon.
In a new mock draft performed by The Ringer, the website has Maledon going to Philadelphia at No. 21. The site also reported the Sixers have interest in San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills in a trade:
The Sixers are interested in Spurs guard Patty Mills, as mentioned above. But even if they acquire the 32-year-old Mills, having a younger guard like Maledon in the pipeline would pave a succession plan. Maledon brings shooting and feel for the game.
Philadelphia will have plenty of options on draft night, but it does seem it will have a few options when it comes to how it can improve the team. It will certainly be a whirlwind night on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
