The NBA G League reportedly plans to have the Ignite face off against previous alumni of the league in closed-door scrimmages in November and two streamed scrimmages in December, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Ignite, which was informally dubbed the Select Team, features six of the top high school prospects, such as Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Jonathan Kuminga and others. The team is coached by Brian Shaw and has been training in Walnut Creek, California.

The scrimmages with the Ignite will run against G League alumni from Nov. 15-22. The NBA G League on Thursday announced the additions of five veterans to the Ignite that will help mentor the prospects, which include Amir Johnson and Reggie Hearn among others.

Ignite, which is unaffiliated with any existing NBA G League franchise or NBA team, will participate in exhibition games against other NBA G League teams and international clubs and will play 10-12 games that won’t count against the standings.

The prospects on Ignite will be draft-eligible in the 2021 NBA draft.
