Brandon Staley and Sean McVay have been reluctant to reveal their plan for Jalen Ramsey on Sunday against the Seahawks, but the All-Pro cornerback himself shed some light on what he will probably be doing coverage-wise.
During his media session on Friday, Ramsey said he expects to cover all of Seattle’s receivers, not just DK Metcalf. So while that may be disappointing to fans who want to see Ramsey shadow Metcalf, it always seemed unlikely that the Rams would stick their top cornerback on the second-year receiver for every snap.
The presence of Tyler Lockett on the other side makes it more difficult to put Ramsey exclusively on Metcalf, especially considering how often the Rams play zone.
Jalen Ramsey said that DK Metcalf is an "undeniable talent" – but will he stick with him throughout Sunday's game?
"I'm sure I'll guard him. I'm sure I'll guard probably all of their receivers at some point in the game."— Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) November 13, 2020
Metcalf has caught 43 passes for 788 yards in six games this season, ranking among the league’s best receivers. His average of 18.3 yards per reception shows just how dangerous he is, creating big plays down the field so often.
Expect to see the Rams roll coverage his way with a safety over the top, especially when it’s either Troy Hill or Darious Williams in man-to-man against Metcalf.
