Report: Pelicans interested in trading up with Hawks for No. 6 pick in 2020 NBA Draft

The Atlanta Hawks may be open to trading their No. 6 pick and the New Orleans Pelicans are in prime position to move up in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Furthering a report of his own last week, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor revealed on Wednesday that the New Orleans Pelicans were active in the trade market for a draft pick higher in the 2020 NBA Draft. With the Atlanta Hawks open to trading down, the Pelicans are eyeing the sixth pick as a spot to move up.

Last week, O’Connor noted that New Orleans was now of the teams looking to move up in the draft. Who the Pelicans may be targeting remains up in the air and, until Wednesday, the team they were interested in moving up with was unknown.

The package the Pelicans would send out is uncertain, but it would likely include a heavy dose of the draft picks they acquired largely from the Lakers last off-season. Also unknown is who the team would be targeting in moving up. Given the range where the Pelicans are aiming, it would put them out of range of the likes of LaMelo Ball, James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards but securely in the range of the next crop of prospects.
