We have signed K Chase McLaughlin off Minnesota’s practice squad to our active roster.
He will be placed on our exempt/commissioner permission list as he goes through the testing and screening protocols and does not currently count against the 53-man roster. pic.twitter.com/bimVExOxmO

Minnesota had protected kicker Chase McLaughlin on its practice squad for nine consecutive weeks.
Under the tweets announcing the Vikings protecting McLaughlin, you could find plenty of jokes from fans. It was pretty much a weekly tradition that Minnesota was going to protect its practice squad kicker.
Then, the team didn’t protect McLaughlin and Jacksonville poached him. The kicker is now a member of the Jaguars.
The Jaguars were in kicking trouble with kicker Josh Lambo being placed on IR with a hip injury. Jacksonville kickers have hit just 71.4% of their attempted field goals this year.
As reported by ESPN, four different Jacksonville kickers have attempted a field goal and five different ones have attempted extra points.
If McLaughlin comes in and plays well, there’s a chance he could secure a starting position for himself. Minnesota wanted kicker depth on the practice squad. That was why it signed McLaughlin. Now, if it wants any insurance behind Dan Bailey, the team will have to go looking.
