The Dallas Cowboys defense is on the field trying desperately to hold onto a one-point lead. Rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs, however, isn’t. This is the second consecutive drive in which he missed at least some action, but him being held out for the entirety of this drive indicates that he’ll be unlikely to return.
Previously, he was in and out of the defensive lineup. It’s been reported that his ankle was being looked at, ultimately getting it re-taped.

In his stead is Saivion Smith, who was not up to the task. First he left Diontae Johnson wide open before missing the tackle, leading to a 42-yard catch and run. Then he allowed Eric Ebron into the end zone by missing a tackle just moments later.
The Cowboys now trail for the first time all game, 24-19 with just over two minutes left to go.
