This one hurts: Ocho’s not loyal. One of the best-established fans of New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas will be switching up on the black and gold during Sunday night’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where Chad Johnson, infamously “Ochocinco” of the Cincinnati Bengals, has declared his support for the home team.
Ochocinco shouted out the Buccaneers receiving corps of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, Scotty Miller, and Jaydon Mickens from his official Twitter account this weekend, also sharing his ticket stub for his seat at Raymond James Stadium so they can all link up after the game (all of them observing COVID-19 guidelines, assuredly).
It’s disappointing to say the least. Johnson had been an outspoken fan of Thomas for years, having attended their 2018 showdown with the Los Angeles Rams at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Thomas’s invitation. He also spent the 2019 offseason waxing poetic about his admiration of the receiver’s abilities, and followed that up by getting in on the “Thomas for MVP” campaign early on.
But now he’s hopped onto another bandwagon, instead siding with Tom Brady’s weapons. We’ll see how it works out for him on Sunday night.
