Michigan drops out of Amway Coaches Poll after Indiana debacle

Since it was a ranked-on-ranked matchup, was there any chance the coaches would give Michigan football a reprieve for losing to Indiana?

We knew this would be happening, but it doesn’t make it any more shocking in the way that it took place.

After gaining not only national respect, but excitement as well, in Big Ten Week 1, the Michigan Wolverines have completely fallen apart, getting their you-know-what handed to them by Michigan State before having an even worse showing by perennial middler Indiana this past Saturday.

Now, after the maize and blue checked in at No. 25 in the Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, a week ago, they’ve fallen out completely, staring down the barrel of an absolute debacle of a season.

What makes things worse are the future opponents. Ohio State was naturally going to be a top team, same with Wisconsin. While Penn State may be the only team nationally more disappointing than Michigan — as it currently boasts a 1-3 record — Maryland is now sitting at 2-1, and Rutgers appears to be much improved. If the Wolverines don’t figure something out in a hurry, it’s possible — albeit implausible — that they might not win another game this season.

For now, Indiana is now No. 10, Wisconsin is No. 14 and Ohio State is No. 3.

Regardless, here’s how the coaches see the college football landscape via the latest Amway Coaches Poll.
