3 things we learned after IU defeated Michigan

What we learned about the Michigan football team after another disheartening loss.

Michigan is off to its worst start in the Jim Harbaugh era — and since 2008 under Rich Rodriguez. The Wolverines fell to 1-2 after losing to the Indiana Hoosiers today, 38-21. This is IU’s first victory over Michigan since 1987 — and the 13th-ranked Hoosiers will be celebrating tonight as they remain undefeated.

Once again, the stats say it all: Indiana absolutely dominated the Wolverines in all facets of the game — including coaching. Tom Allen had his players prepared and ready to play — while Michigan looked unprepared, for the second-straight week, and lacked any enthusiasm and will to come out and compete.

With a shortened season, there are only five games remaining – time is ticking for the Wolverines. One could argue the season is all but over for Michigan — at least to win the conference — they need to get things figured out right now. If Michigan gets to play next week against Wisconsin, who itself has COVID-19 concerns — it will need to play much better, and learn from these two dismal performances the past two weeks. We keep hearing about how well the team “practices,” but it’s time to see it on the field against a worthy opponent.
