What Oklahoma can accomplish against a winless Kansas team on Saturday

The week of Oklahoma and Kansas is just about finally over. Here is what the Sooners can accomplish against a winless Jayhawks’ squad.

The week of Oklahoma and Kansas is just about finally over.

The No. 19 ranked Sooners are streaking, winning three-straight after dropping the first two games of the 2020 Big 12 slate. Kansas is the opposite, losing all six games so far this season.

Spencer Rattler is heating up as is most of the Oklahoma offense. With the return of Ronnie Perkins, the Oklahoma defense is starting to become more and more difficult to deal with.

The Sooners are 38-point favorites in this game and for good reason. If the starters are playing past the first-half, that’s a problem. Tanner Mordecai hasn’t yet to be able to pick up where Rattler leaves off, but Oklahoma should be able to end this fairly quickly.

Here is what the Sooners can accomplish against a winless Kansas team.

INJURY FREE

It is extremely important to get out of today’s game injury free. Oklahoma is trending in a positive direction and anything hindering that moving forward could be detrimental to the Sooners’ run to the Big 12 Championship game.

MORE CONFIDENCE IN THE RUNNING GAME

Oklahoma’s running game is close to breaking through. Very close.

The Sooners struggled with their running game early in the season. They popped big runs at the end of the TCU game and the return of Rhamondre Stevenson sparked success against Texas Tech. Blocking clean up front and driving people is something that can and needs to happen against Kansas.

GET JADON HASELWOOD COMFORTABLE

The star wide receiver returns on Saturday for his debut of 2020.

Going through a pregame warmup, getting acclimated to the game day environment and getting out there and getting snaps is paramount ahead of a big game against Oklahoma State in two weeks. We’ll see how many snaps he plays against Kansas.

BRING ON THE FRESHMAN

There are so many promising freshmen who will get a chance to play.

Chandler Morris, Mikey Henderson, Andrew Raym, Anton Harrison and some receivers on offense. Joshua Eaton, Bryson Washington, D.J. Graham, Shane Whitter and others on defense. Will be exciting to see these guys play and even more so for Oklahoma to continue to get them in-game reps.
