49ers reinstate 4 players off Reserve/COVID-19 list

The 49ers’ recent COVID-19 scare is over after Kendrick Bourne, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams were all activated.

The 49ers on Friday activated all four players who went on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne received a positive test for the virus and was placed on the COVID-19 list. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and left tackle Trent Williams were all considered high-risk close contacts with Bourne, pushing all three of them onto the COVID-19 list as well.

None of the players tested positive Thursday or Friday, meaning they were able to reclaim their roster spots and come off the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

All four players should be available for the 49ers’ Week 11 game vs. the Saints after missing Thursday night’s matchup with the Packers. There was some speculation the NFL may push the game back with so many players on the COVID-19 list, but head coach Kyle Shanahan after the game said there was never any discussion that the game could get moved.

Samuel is still dealing with a hamstring injury and his status for Week 11 is still unknown, but he will be eligible to play.
