Some Raiders fans’ hearts may have skipped a beat on Thursday. Josh Jacobs was suddenly not at practice, listed as missing with a knee injury and an illness. In normal times, this wouldn’t have seemed a big deal. But in the age of COVID-19, it raises concerns. Especially because that same day the Raiders put Trent Brown back on the reserve/COVID-19 list *and* signed running back Theo Riddick from their practice squad.
It’s enough to make you hold your breath.
Well, fans may be able to breathe a little now because according to media in attendance at Raiders practice Friday, Jacobs was back at practice, which at very least rules out the scariest possibility. That being that he too tested positive for COVID-19.
As for Riddick’s signing, it could be a precautionary move. A roster spot opened up with Brown headed back to the reserve/COVID-19 list and they used that spot to cover themselves. It could also have been to ensure he doesn’t get scooped up by another team.
