Minnesota traded Yannick Ngakoue to Baltimore for a reported third-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick.
The Vikings getting rid of Ngakoue is not a win-now move. In some ways the trade heavily implies rebuilding 2020 season for the team.
Despite that, Minnesota’s moves before the trade deadline ceased there, barring any later reports. As it stands, there are no announcements of additional trades for the team.
That comes as a slight surprise. The Vikings sit at 2-5. Granted, the team is coming off an upset victory to the Packers, but that alone is not enough to jump-start the season.
Minnesota will need to string a lot more victories together if it has any hope of clinching another playoff berth. At least now — barring any surprises — the Vikings will try to do so with the roster mostly intact.
