Ahead of the NBA draft on Nov. 18, the Orlando Magic are reportedly attempting to trade up into the mid-lottery range, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.
Currently, the Magic hold the Nos. 15 and 45 picks, respectively, and are looking to move up. The organization would likely need to use both draft picks, and perhaps a future asset or player, in order to create a package attractive enough to strike a deal.
A few teams ahead of the Magic on the draft board are said to be interested in moving back, such as the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks, and they could be potential trade partners. Other teams could also be open to a trade once the draft gets closer, too.
The Magic have often selected the best player available through the draft and will likely continue that trend this year. The organization will be looking to add a prospect that can develop into a star and they could very well trade up in order to find that player.
Orlando has often targeted long, athletic players that can defend at a high level and that will likely once again be the approach when the team is on the clock, either at No. 15 or higher.
