Alabama started slow against Mississippi State, but things have picked up quickly on the last two drives. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith has stepped up and provided two big-time touchdown catches for the Crimson Tide.
The first was a 35-yard score from Mac Jones to put Alabama up 10-0 in the first quarter. On the very next drive, the Jones-Smith combination struck again for a 53-yard score.
As it sits right now, the Crimson Tide are up 17-0 on the Bulldogs and we haven’t yet reached the end of the first quarter. Jones has completed 10 of his 14 pass attempts for 131 yards and two touchdowns while Smith hauled in five of those receptions for 99 yards and both touchdowns.
