We may finally know how the 2020-21 Michigan State basketball season will begin — and fans should be pretty excited.

Tom Noie of ND Insider reported on Friday that Michigan State will host Notre Dame on Nov. 28 as the potential 2020-21 season-opener for both the Spartans and Fighting Irish. This report comes one day after MSU head coach Tom Izzo hinted at a potential rivalry match-up with Notre Dame when meeting with local media.

It was also announced on Thursday that Michigan State will head to Virginia as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. The Spartans confirmed on Friday that game — which pits brothers Joey Hauser of MSU and Sam Hauser of UVA — will be played on Dec. 9.

Mix in that MSU is still expected to play Duke in the Champions Classic, and that’s three of the seven non-conference games in place against ACC foes. So it appears we are finally getting an idea of what the Spartans schedule is going to look like for the upcoming season. It is expected that the other four games will be filled in by local or in-state opponents but don’t be surprised if Izzo adds another big game into the mix.
