It’s no secret which side of the ball represents Florida’s limiting factor right now. In spite of brilliant offensive performances from quarterback Kyle Trask, tight end Kyle Pitts and others in every game so far, the Gators are 2-1.
UF’s defensive struggles have kept all three games closer than they should have been, but the problems came to a tee against Texas A&M on Oct. 10, when the Gators lost a 41-38 shootout allowing 500 yards of offense for the second time.
Florida is still competing for spots in the College Football Playoff and SEC Championship, but neither of those seems likely to happen if the defense doesn’t improve quickly.
