There’s a crucial Big 12 matchup this Saturday as the Texas Longhorns head to Stillwater to take on the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys.
As we’ve witnessed throughout the first five games, Texas can’t seem to get out of their own way. It’s hard to trust one of the most penalized teams in the country.
If head coach Tom Herman hopes to have any future in Austin — as much as the Longhorns strive to keep up with the Big 12 title race — this is a must-win game.
It’s not an easy task, but Texas has the talent to get the job done.

There couldn’t be any more pressure on Tom Herman this Saturday than there already is. The Longhorns need a win against the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in the worst way. In the last 24 hours they lost their top 2022 recruit and another top target. There has been a mass exodus of recruits and players seeking to leave through the transfer portal. However, winning cures all and this weekend they won’t get the cure. I expect Chuba Hubbard, LD Brown, Tylan Wallace and Spencer Sanders to take it right to this defense.

Prior to the mass exodus of recruits this week, I wasn’t feeling confident in this matchup. However, in typical Texas fashion, I can’t help but believe that the Longhorns will win this game for head coach Tom Herman. I don’t think it will be enough to secure Herman’s future in Austin, but it will sure silence the critics for one more week. Unfortunately, the recruiting issue is an even bigger issue. They’ve dug the hole too deep.

Wouldn’t it be the most 2020 thing ever for Texas to beat No. 6 Oklahoma State in Stillwater after the week they have had? Sadly, we will return to a bit of normalcy once the field is taken. The Longhorns will not be able to contain Chuba Hubbard, who is already averaging 5.1 yards per carry. And if the vanilla offense continues, it will become a blowout win for the Cowboys.
