The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to revamp their entire front office as they look to move on from a disappointing 2019-20 season. When a team has the high expectations that they had and not even come close to them, changes must then be made and the Sixers are doing so.
Philadelphia is bringing in a big name to the front office to help general manager Elton Brand make basketball decisions. That man will be Daryl Morey who just recently stepped down from his post with the Houston Rockets.
Morey will agree to a 5-year deal by the weekend and he will run the franchise’s basketball operations. He has a strong relationship with coach Doc Rivers and it sounds like the two of them plus Brand will have say in what the team does moving forward.
Conversations with the Sixers and Daryl Morey started shortly after his departure from Houston, escalated in recent days and will culminate with Morey becoming the Sixers new President, sources tell ESPN. Doc Rivers and Morey have a strong relationship and history together.

Morey is a guy with a ton of success in this league as he did a terrific job with the Rockets. He took over the team at the tail end of the Tracy McGrady era and he quickly turned them around when he acquired James Harden in a shrewd decision. His expectations will be high in Philadelphia.
The Sixers are a team with a lot of talent led by the duo of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons so this season’s failures were inexcusable. Since the Round 1 sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics, the team has made wholesale changes up and down the roster. From Rivers replacing Brett Brown to making a slew of front office changes, the Sixers are looking to right the ship after a tough season.
