Ryan Garcia has a fight with Luke Campbell on Dec. 5 but also has his eye on bigger game.
Garcia told Sky Sports that he wants to fight Gervonta Davis, assuming Davis gets past Leo Santa Cruz in their pay-per-view fight Saturday in San Antonio and then Teofimo Lopez after that.
Garcia and Campbell are scheduled to fight for the WBC “interim” title, with the winner to become mandatory challenger to Devin Haney’s secondary belt.
Lopez defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko by a unanimous decision to win all four 135-pound titles on Oct. 17.
“I want Gervonta,” Garcia said. “That’s my Lomachenko fight, the fight that people don’t think I can win. Then I want to challenge Teofimo. Then Haney. In 2021, Gervonta and Teofimo are the guys I want.”
Garcia wasn’t surprised that Lopez upset Lomachenko.
“I wasn’t shocked,” he said. “I gave the edge to Teofimo because he’s a bigger man. This isn’t Lomachenko’s weight class and he should move down. The new, hungry fighter was ready to take over.
“I look forward to my chance at all those belts.”
Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) is one of the hottest young fighters in the world because of a string of early knockouts and a huge social following.
