Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo is eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason but the two-time NBA All-Star may want to look for a change of scenery and could push for a trade prior to next season. As a result, his name has appeared in several trade rumors with the Miami Heat as a potential suitor.

Of course, the Heat are fresh off of an impressive run to the NBA Finals and have often targeted high-profile players either by trade and through free agency. Oladipo is reportedly interested in joining the Heat but Miami may not be as interested as once thought as his trade value has diminished after returning from a serious quad injury.

Whether or not the Heat would entertain a trade for Oladipo, the organization will reportedly not consider including Tyler Herro in a potential deal, according to Zach Harper of The Athletic. In fact, Heat president Pat Riley would hang up on the Pacers in a hypothetical trade involving Oladipo.

It’s just hard to see Herro being involved unless they’re acquiring Giannis or Beal in a potential trade. League sources believe a trade for Oladipo wouldn’t even consider including Herro on Miami’s end of it. “Riley hangs up.”

The unwillingness by the Heat to include Herro in a potential trade is warranted. Herro, who was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, emerged as a key player for the Heat during the postseason after averaging 16 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 21 games. He set a number of playoff records and earned widespread praise from his peers.

Miami may ultimately have their eye on a bigger fish, such as Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. The organization will likely want to hold onto all of its trade assets for such a move so they may not want to give up too much for Oladipo. Certainly, things can change rather quickly but Herro should be in Miami for quite a long time to come.
