Last season, the Chicago Bears faced a New Orleans Saints team without quarterback Drew Brees and running back Alvin Kamara. Unfortunately, the Bears couldn’t overcome an anemic offensive performance and lost 36-25.
But the Bears have gotten off to an impressive 5-1 start this season, where they’ve managed to win some ugly one-possession games. But they’ve managed to do so, which is the important part.
And it sounds like the Bears might catch another injury break as Saints receiver Michael Thomas is in jeopardy of missing next Sunday’s game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter noted that Thomas will likely be considered questionable next week as he recovers from a hamstring injury and a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 1.

The Bears have been the beneficiary of some injury luck on the opposition’s side. They’ve avoided facing receivers Julio Jones, Kenny Golladay and Chris Godwin, and it sounds like they could avoid another of the league’s best wideouts if Thomas can’t go next Sunday.
While not having to face Thomas would certainly be helpful, it certainly doesn’t make Week 8’s game against the Saints a cakewalk. Especially after last year’s beatdown.
