We’re only playing the hits this week, with the New Orleans Saints choosing to pair their black home jerseys with black pants in Sunday’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers.

This has been the most common look for the Saints in recent years, and it’s just the latest game they’ll have played without wearing gold trousers (which must have been discarded in Los Angeles last year after Drew Brees was injured; some clothes have bad vibes, I get it.), which were a staple for New Orleans over the decades. Oh well.

The Saints have a 2-1 record in their all-blacks this year, including their last-second overtime win over the Los Angeles Chargers before the bye week. Here’s how each uniform permutation has performed during the Sean Payton era, back to 2006 (and including the playoffs):

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 5-1 (.833)
  2. “Color Rush” alternates: 6-3 (.667)
  3. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 39-25 (.609)
  6. Black jerseys, black pants: 43-28 (.605)
  7. White jerseys, gold pants: 31-24 (.564)
