Anonymous agents air out their jealousy with LeBron, Klutch and Rich Paul

The Athletic published a story populated with quotes from agents who are definitely jealous of the world created by Rich Paul and LeBron.

It’s a slow time for news in the NBA world. Most of the coaching vacancies around the league have been filled and teams across the league are in the middle of an unprecedented pre-draft process, which is more complicated than any pre-draft process before. With most of that going on behind the scenes and the draft still almost a month away, there’s not a lot to talk about in the NBA world. However, enter a rather bizarre feature from the folks at The Athletic, in which agents from across the league were allowed to unload on their peers in an anonymous forum. So of course, they unloaded on the rising superpower in the league: Klutch Sports.

In a shocking turn of events, opposing agents have problems with Klutch Sports.

The worst thing that LeBron is doing is forcing this power with Rich Paul and what that is, in terms of, he’s a player, but he has prowess in the media space. His company Spring Hill, that’s awesome. Doing the movies and all of the projects. That’s so commendable. I love that. But now that they’ve jumped into the agent game, which the reality is, it’s illegal for a player, particularly if you’re in the state of California, to be licensed to represent talent.

Also, I’m not sure what this agent is referencing, but everything I’ve read about it seems to be untrue. Most of the California resolution referenced by the anonymous agent, SB-1098, concerns itself with student-athletes and there is little to nothing in the text about it being illegal for a player to be involved in talent representation. While Klutch is much bigger than LeBron James, any influence he has there is not subject to the law.
