The Houston Texans’ season is on the brink at 1-5, and it doesn’t get any easier as the Green Bay Packers come to NRG Stadium in Week 7.
Green Bay is coming off a 38-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that dinged the Packers’ perfect record, rendering them 4-1 after their Week 6 trip to Raymond James Stadium. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will be out to get back on track and not fall to 4-2.
According to BetMGM, the Packers are -3.5 favorites against the Texans, which are tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the sixth-slimmest odds of Week 7; or, that is one way to look at it. The fact is the Packers are road favorites, joining the Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and the Cleveland Browns as the only road favorites in Week 7.
The over/under for the Packers-Texans game is interesting. Odds-makers have the point total set at 56.5, the highest over/under of Week 7. Second-highest is the Detroit Lions at the Atlanta Falcons, which is 56.0.
All of Houston’s game except one have been under the 56.5 threshold. The lone game that went over that mark was last week’s 42-36 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans. For the Packers, three of their five games have gone over the 56.5 mark.
With as porous as the Texans’ defense is, giving up 30.3 points per game, the 56.5 over/under seems reasonable. If Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense can get going and match Rodgers and Green Bay’s output, then the game will probably go over. If the Texans can win a shootout with the Packers, it will build confidence, even though they will merely be 2-5 with a win.
