The Philadelphia 76ers had themselves a tough season on the floor in the 2019-20 season. They were not able to make their awkward roster fit together all season long and they were swept in Round 1 of the playoffs.

A finish like that one comes with changes and it began with Brett Brown being fired and replaced by Doc Rivers as the new head coach. It then continued with the front office as the Sixers made some hires to shake it up a bit more.

Now, some believe that their attention should be turned to the roster.

ESPN has put together some predictions for the 2020 offseason as they try and figure out what is expected to be a wild time in the league. For Philadelphia, they say the team should make a big trade to shake up the roster as they put it:

After being swept in the first round inside the playoff bubble and the subsequent firing of coach Brett Brown, the Philadelphia 76ers headed into the offseason full of questions. The franchise answered one of them earlier this month when it named Doc Rivers as the new coach. Now the spotlight shifts to whether Philadelphia will make any big changes to its roster this offseason.

Our panel is nearly split on whether the 76ers should do it, but the majority agrees that Philly will ultimately see what Rivers can do with its star core intact for the 2020-21 season.

What should the 76ers do?

Make a big trade: 53.8%

Count on Doc Rivers, their current stars and better health to get them back into contention: 46.2%

What will the 76ers do?

Make a big trade: 15.4%

Count on Doc Rivers, their current stars and better health to get them back into contention: 84.6%

The Sixers roster is a clunky one around the two stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid who need a lot of space to operate on offense. General manager Elton Brand took the gamble that Al Horford and Josh Richardson would do a lot to help the team move forward, but neither of those guys are sharpshooters and they were not able to provide the proper spacing.

If a trade were to be made on this roster, it should not include Simmons and Embiid as the two of them are among the top players in the game and Philadelphia just needs to find better pieces around them. It would be tough to move Horford or Tobias Harris due to their hefty contracts and Richardson is coming off a down season shooting the ball. The Sixers might be stuck with the makeup of this roster for now.[lawrence-related id=38519,38512,38509]
