Former Dayton forward Obi Toppin has emerged as one of the most well-liked prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft and has a number of teams interested in his services, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, who hold the Nos. 1, 17 and 33 picks on Nov. 18.

The Timberwolves are reportedly high on Toppin given his offensive versatility and ability to stretch the floor, according to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report. Despite the reported interest, it remains to be seen if the Timberwolves will take him No. 1 or trade down.

Minnesota has previously been rumored into wanting to trade down in order to acquire a player that can help them win now, which could point to Toppin as a possibility. He was perhaps the best offensive player in the country and projects to have an easy transition to the next level.

Toppin was named the 2020 Associated Press Player of the Year after averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and one steal in 31 games. He proved that he could score from virtually all over the floor, highlighted by his 39% shooting from 3-point range.

Given his skill set, Toppin is most commonly projected to be taken within the first 12 picks but will likely be off of the board by that point. He is viewed as one of the safer picks in the draft and likely won’t have to wait long to hear his name called.
