Chiefs RB Le’Veon Bell’s jersey number revealed

A familiar jersey number for Le’Veon Bell as he begins his new chapter in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Chiefs made Le’Veon Bell’s signing official on Saturday, clearing space on the 53-man roster and announcing his signing. While Bell won’t be available to play on Monday against the Buffalo Bills due to COVID-19 screening, he has made an important decision regarding his tenure in Kansas City.

Bell has seemingly decided on a jersey number with his new team. Both the Chiefs’ official roster and media roster list him as wearing No. 26, which is the number he has worn throughout his NFL career in both Pittsburgh and New York. Some people suspected that Bell might choose a different jersey number in Kansas City out of respect for RB Damien Williams. Of course, Williams opted out of the 2020 season to take care of his mother, who is currently battling cancer. He also played a big part in the Super Bowl LIV win for the team.

Some also suspected that Bell might wear a new jersey number to represent the new chapter that he’s starting his career. He previously wore No. 24 with Michigan State, but that number currently belongs to Chiefs DB Tedric Thompson.

Ultimately, Bell is going with the recognizable No. 26 in Kansas City. If he can help the Chiefs to victory and perhaps another Super Bowl appearance, you can rest assured that Williams won’t mind Bell borrowing his number for the remainder of the 2020 season.
