Jeremy Pruitt provides update on Vols’ linebacker taking time away from the team.

KNOXVILLE — No. 17 Tennessee (2-1, 2-1 SEC) is in the middle of game week in preparation to take on Kentucky (1-2, 1-2 SEC) Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Third-year Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt met with media Wednesday and provided an update on redshirt sophomore linebacker J.J. Peterson.

Pruitt mentioned that Peterson is taking “a couple of weeks away from the team.”

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2019 and finished with 11 tackles.

Peterson played in four games in 2018 and recorded on tackle.

Tennessee and Kentucky will kick off at noon EDT. The contest will be televised by SEC Network.
