Former Kings coach Dave Joerger candidate to join Doc Rivers, Sixers

Former Sacramento Kings coach Dave Joerger is a candidate to join Doc Rivers and his staff with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are entering a new era in their franchise history with the hire of Doc Rivers as their new head coach. Rivers brings in a level of credibility that is huge for this franchise and it is now time for Rivers to build his staff.

While he was not able to bring in Alvin Gentry who was a serious candidate to join his staff, another big name that has popped up is former Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings coach Dave Joerger.

Joerger interviewed with the Indiana Pacers for their current opening at head coach, but he is now considered a candidate to join Rivers’ staff with the Sixers.

Joerger has been a head coach for six seasons in the league and he has a 245-247 record leading Memphis to the playoffs in all three of his seasons there before finishing 98-148 in three seasons with the Kings. One connection that should intrigue Sixers fans is his connection to Buddy Hield who would be a great addition to this team. Hield had the best numbers of his career under Joerger and it sounds like it would be another reason for him to force a trade to Philadelphia. [lawrence-related id=38341,38338,38329]
