The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that came up very short of their expectations for the 2019-20 season. The Sixers were expected to be in the hunt for an NBA championship, but they were swept out of Round 1 of the playoffs.
A finish like that brings changes and the first one to come was the firing of Brett Brown after the season ended, but now people are turning their attention to the roster.
There is a school of thought that the duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid can’t win together despite their obvious success on the floor. So people believe that they need to trade one of them. One team in the West that could be interested in Embiid is the Golden State Warriors as they look to battle with the now defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers have a few talented bigs in the form of Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and others and the Sixers still need help in terms of perimeter and wing players. So ESPN’s Jay Williams threw a hypothetical trade out there on Twitter of Embiid to the Warriors for Andrew Wiggins and the number 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft.
If he is locked in defensively… a Steve Kerr has demand that.. it could be big for them. Still think Joel Embiid would be an interesting play for Wiggins & the 2nd pick. https://t.co/6YsjNuY0X1

A guy like Wiggins could help the Sixers out in terms of their perimeter offense, but the team should not give up on Embiid yet at all. Both Embiid and Simmons are top players in the game and they just need the right supporting cast around them to make it all work. Philadelphia should think hard before pulling the trigger on any trade for either of the stars. [lawrence-related id=38329,38332,38326]
