The Los Angeles Lakers first championship in 10 years and the fourth championship for LeBron James merged to create the highest-selling championship moment for the sports merchandise giant Fanatics. According to Fanatics, Lakers championship gear sold more in 12-hours than all of the gear sold by the previous record-holder, the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron James, of course, had the highest-selling jersey of any Laker, according to Fanatics. But No. 2 was fallen legend Kobe Bryant, who passed away earlier this year in a helicopter crash along with his daughter Gianna and seven others. Lakers gear was sold in over 110 countries and according to Fanatics, nearly 85% of the orders for Lakers championship gear came on mobile devices.
While it’s not clear how long Fanatics has been tracking such things to compare to, say the Kobe-Shaq Lakers or Michael Jordan’s Bulls, that the modern era’s highest-selling moments are two LeBron James championships is a pretty strong note in the LeBron biography.
