KNOXVILLE — Tennessee held a scrimmage Sunday night ahead of its SEC Week 4 contest against Kentucky.

The scrimmage was intended for student-athletes to receive reps who are not playing a huge role during the early part of the season.

Jeremy Pruitt mentioned that freshman defensive back Tamarion McDonald stood out during the scrimmage.

“Tamarion, last night was the first time that he’s really had any contact during fall camp, and I thought he was one of the bright spots of the scrimmage last night, so that was good to see,” Pruitt said Monday.

Following Tennessee’s third practice of fall training camp, Pruitt announced that McDonald would redshirt during the 2020 season due to having underwent shoulder surgery.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound freshman is from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee. McDonald also played linebacker at Whitehaven.
