It will be a while longer before we get to see cornerback Greedy Williams take the field for the Cleveland Browns in 2020. Coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday that the team will place Williams on injured reserve with his bad shoulder.
Williams has not played this season. He has been on the active roster but a weekly inactive the entire five-game season. The second-year CB injured his shoulder during training camp. He had been progressing up to limited duty in practices over the last couple of weeks but has not been able to get back to full participant status. Stefanski indicated Williams does not need surgery at this point.
With the new injured reserve rules, Williams must miss just three games. He can be activated after the Week 8 matchup in Cleveland with the Las Vegas Raiders. That happens to be the Browns’ bye week, giving him an extra week before the team takes the field in Week 10 against Houston.
Terrance Mitchell has started in Williams’ place and played well.
