Patriots-Broncos thrown into doubt after report of another positive COVID-19 test on New England

According to a report, another Patriots player tested positive, and the team has shut down facilities again on Sunday.

The possibility that this week’s game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos could happen has been iffy all week. Its been cast even further in doubrt after a report came out on Sunday morning from Adam Schefter that the Patriots had once again closed their practice facility due to another positive COVID-19 test.

This marks four positive tests on the Patriots over the last eight days. It has to be maddening for New England because it’s not like they’re seeing a full-blown outbreak on the team … it seems that whenever it looks like they’re in the clear, another positive test pops up.

Per Schefter, the NFL is still planning on holding the game between the Patriots and the Broncos, which has already been rescheduled for Monday evening. They have ordered another round of testing for New England players, and presumably if the new positive test turns out to be a false positive, or there are no more positive tests on the team, they’ll try to go ahead with the game.

The Patriots rescheduled last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs following their quarterback, Cam Newton, testing positive for COVID-19.

Following another positive test after the game, of cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the Patriots were unable to practice for much of the week, and the league moved the game against the Broncos back a day.

Now, another positive test.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
