Vols hold Georgia from scoring on a goal line stand before halftime

Recapping the first half of Tennessee vs. Georgia

ATHENS — Tennessee’s football team finds itself ahead of Georgia, 21-17, at halftime, thanks to a brilliant goal-line stand to close out the second quarter.

The Vols have a slight upper hand in a game that can truly be defined as bizarre.

The Big Orange scored first when Kivon Bennett recovered an errant Georgia snap in the end zone.

After that, the Vols had to overcome penalties, including a targeting call on Deandre Johnson.

The Bulldogs tied the game, 7-7, on a 2-yard run by Zamir White.

Georgia took its first lead of the contest when Stetson Bennett IV scored on a quarterback draw.

Tennessee regained the advantage thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from Jarrett Guarantano to Josh Palmer.

Georgia’s Jack Podlesny had a field goal.

The Volunteers will get the ball to start the second half.
