Philadelphia 76ers assistant Kevin Young leaving to join Monty Williams and the Phoenix Suns.

The Philadelphia 76ers are undergoing a few changes to their coaching staff after making a change at the head seat for the first time in seven seasons. With Doc Rivers taking over as the team’s head coaching job from Brett Brown, the team is now losing one of their assistants.

Kevin Young, who was first a head coach for the team’s G League team, has been an assistant under Brown for the previous four seasons. He is now leaving the staff in Philadelphia to join Monty Williams with the Phoenix Suns as the two served under Brown with the Sixers.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Philadelphia also interviewed Young for their head coaching vacancy before hiring Rivers.

Young was in high regard with Brown and he was a part of the team’s game planning along with Ime Udoka and Joseph Daniel. He will have an opportunity to grow and move forward with the Suns. [lawrence-related id=38231,38227,38224]
